Frequently Asked Questions

Does PFA accept relinquished pet animals at their rescue centre if donations are given?

NO. We feel that every pet owner should look after their pets for life. Having a pet is a life- long commitment, and the relationship is mutual. Pets suffer severe emotional trauma when they are given up by their carers. We do not accept old pet dogs on payment of donations. If you are transferred to a place where you cannot take your dog, contact us early enough so that we can try to rehome your pet. Our priority is to take care of sick and injured HOMELESS animals. Accepting pets will limit the space for really needy animals.

Does PFA offer hostels/ holiday homes for pets?

NO. We do not offer hostel facility now. However, if you contact us well in advance, we will try to help you with alternatives.

Why doesn’t PFA offer hostel for pets even if there is free kennel space?

Presently, PFA does not have separate premises for pets. The animals that come to us are from the streets and even healthy animals may be carriers of any contagious disease. At times, ailments and diseases go undetected, or might be incurable. Your pet, however healthy or well maintained, may not have the immunity or resistance against a possible infection.

Does PFA offer breeding services?

NO. PFA does not promote breeding. There are enough animals in the world. Adoption is the most humane option. We sterilize all our animals.

Does PFA sell dogs?

NO. PFA does not sell dogs. We offer rescued and orphaned animals for adoption, free of any cost.

Does PFA offer free vaccination and sterilization for pet animals?

We offer free vaccination and sterilization ONLY for animals adopted from us. We do vaccinate pet animals free of cost in Vaccination Drives arranged in collaboration with residents’ associations. Sterilization may be arranged for pet animals on payment of Rs.1000/-. Owners are expected to bring the animal to our hospital and take them home when they become conscious after surgery. If our funding status allows, we might undertake to perform surgery free of cost or on subsidized rate for pet animals of the poor (BPL).

How much is the cost of vaccination and sterilization of a pet dog?

The cost of sterilization is Rs.1000/- and of vaccination is Rs.300/-.
